Eilean Iarmain Estate
Sporting Activities
The estate of Fearann Eilean Iarmain, originally the remaining portion of the ancient Macdonald estates, covers some 23,000 acres in the parishes of Sleat and Strath in south Skye. An area of great natural beauty with hills, moorland, native woodlands and seashore. This habitat sustains abundant bird life and a wide variety of plant species and wild flowers. The area is known as "Lios an Eilein" ("the Garden of Skye") and is famous for its geology.
We offer mixed shooting, mainly walked up. Our principal attraction is Woodcock, but days may include pheasant, snipe, partridge, grouse and duck flighting.
The estate holds a small well managed stock of red deer and stalking days are available during the deer stalking season.
Numerous hill lochs offer wild brown trout with the chance of a few bigger fish on two of the lochs. There are also sea trout in two small rivers.
Accommodation may be booked at the hotel where special rates are offered for shooting parties. Alternatively you may be able to rent the self catering cottages on the estate. Packed lunches are available at £10 per person and may be eaten in the comfort of our cosy candle lit bothy in front of an open fire.
